Outdoors · Welney

A Welney volunteer walks you round the Ouse Washes — 1,000 acres of Britain's biggest seasonally flooded grassland, straddling the Norfolk-Cambridgeshire border — pointing out what's arriving as autumn migration builds, plus the site's history, on Tuesdays and Thursdays through to the end of October.
The whole route is step-free, with smooth paths, ramped hides and free-to-borrow mobility scooters and wheelchairs, so it's a properly relaxed way to get close to wetland wildlife without worrying about the terrain.
