Exhibition · Colchester

Frinton-based painter Simon Carter's biggest exhibition to date, built around the Essex coastline he's painted for decades: a 19-metre "groyne" wall of 500 painted sketches, a specially composed coastal soundscape, and paintings and drawings made since 2020 alongside new work created for the show. It turns Firstsite's galleries into something closer to walking into the landscape itself than looking at pictures of it.
Free entry, and runs long enough — right through to mid-January — that there's no rush to catch it.
