Mend Our Mountains: Get Stuck In!

The British Mountaineering Council's conservation weekends put volunteers to work alongside Fix the Fells rangers repairing drainage, stepping stones and eroded paths in the fells above Wasdale — proper, useful outdoor graft, done in small teams that are built to welcome first-timers. Free hut accommodation is thrown in for the nights you're there.

There's a free day built into the middle of the weekend for a social hike or scramble, so it's as much a way to meet fellow hill-lovers as it is a working weekend.
