Fishguard Bay Food Festival

Run by volunteers rather than a big events company, this one-day festival turns Fishguard and Goodwick's halls, harbour and high street into a showcase for Pembrokeshire's growers, fishers, bakers and cooks — a producers' market at Ysgol Bro Gwaun, cookery demos at the Phoenix Centre, and talks on sustainable food dotted through the day.

It rewards wandering rather than ticking off a list: bring an appetite, a bag for whatever you can't resist buying, and time to actually talk to the people who grew or made what's on the table.
