Craft & making · Cardiff

Bute Park empties out any pretension and fills up with trestle tables instead: two days of local makers spread along the paths near the Visitor Centre, everything from ceramics to woodwork to slow-stitched textiles. It's free to wander, dogs are as welcome as the shoppers, and the castle walls make a far better backdrop than any shopping centre ever could.
Go without a plan and let the stalls set the pace — pick up something small and well-made, then carry on into the park proper for a walk along the Taff. The kind of low-key Saturday that doesn't need a headline act to be worth the trip.
